1 Model does not an exhibit make

Viridian "City" has the usual PC+Mart+Gym, a tiny schoolhouse, and one other building. It's unclear whether the drunk old man even has a home.

It's also safe to assume the meteorites that fell on Mt. Moon are part of the Space Exhibit as well. Meaning the entire 2nd floor is presumed to be a space exhibit.

Red++ already had the fossil Kabutops and Aerodactyl sprites; want to use Polished Crystal's Omastar and Meteorite?

It it a color mode when played on GBC (monochrome on GB), or fully color (GBC exclusive)?
Luna
It will be gbc exclusive, and the plan is to look into taking better advantage of that. Need to study the way pokered-gbc changes the engine so I can figure out what all I'll have to rework to take advantage of the fact that the gbc has twice as much VRAM (meaning I can use bigger tilesets and stuff...

I decided I wasn't as crazy about the Player's House tileset from v2 once it was in color, so I updated it with some tiles from Christmas.

the yellow pikachu poster is a eyesore though
Luna
Your spelling is an eyesore.
Luna
tbh though, its not an amazing poster. It's from vanilla Gen 2 and I thought it would make sense for Red/Leaf to have a Pikachu poster in their bedroom, but honestly a different poster would look better. Maybe even a Town Map like in Gen 2. We'll see.
Rangi
You could color it differently: http://i.imgur.com/l2MASxQ.png
Luna
True. Hmm, what about using a Marill poster instead, as a small nod to all the Pikablu rumors from the 90s?
Rangi
Sure, I've made one for PC: http://imgur.com/a/b31CM Although then there's a lot of blue; maybe make the carpet green, as it is in FRLG?
Luna
Was thinking about making it purple, then I could use the "Roof" palette to make the SNES be Grey/Purple instead while letting it also fit in with the carpet that's also part of that tile.

Today, I decided to port the Town Map from Polished Crystal over to Red++. Our hacks exist in the same universe and will have the same areas, so I thought, "why not?".
El Diabeetus
That decapitalization though!
Pokémon Red++
v2.4 will have the same shiny encounter chances as Polished Crystal, due to the fact that our hacks exist in a shared universe. In addition to that, I added a little something extra while I was at it.

Carefully.

Not necessarily final or anything, but planning to have something like this as the titlescreen in v3.0

polish somehow the + up and its amazing
Luna
I originally tried adding a red stripe through the middle of the "Red++" part, and it looked ok in a smaller version of the text, but at this size it kept looking weird no matter how thick or thin I made the stripe. Not really sure what else to do with the ++, what would you suggest?
Nex
just make it smaller
Alex
Idk how I feel about this. I really liked the old title screen, and I feel it was much more conservative to the originals than this is.

Edit: 7.8/10 too much red
Luna
I've never been overly fond of the original gen 1 titlescreen. The only reason it was so close before was because I was lazy and hadn't looked into completely redoing it yet.

Just fixed a tiny but game-breaking bug in the hard patch. Turns out a biker's team wasn't properly terminated, causing it to read the next trainer's name as Pokemon data and... yeah. Anyway, it was a...

v2.3 is out now! If you're updating from v2.2, you should save inside a Pokémon Center before switching to the new rom for best results.

Wonder Trade should now only offer Pokemon who can legitimately be at that level. You may end up with some who are overleveled, but that is at least still possible in the main game even if it isn't no...

Updated this a bit further. Now instead of just checking a minimum level, it gives each Pokemon a level range. I kind of like this a bit better now that I think about it. A range of acceptable levels not only prevents, say, lv50 Weedles, it also makes it easy to keep you from trading a lv2 Pidgey an...

Trying to go through and do some tweaking to the availability of Wild Pokemon for v2.3. I've been taking into account not just RB locations, but also Yellow, Green, and even GSC/HGSS at times as well....

Updated Breeding a bit today. Originally, nothing was passed down from the parents, it was just random stats like any wild or gift Pokémon would be. The way it works now is basically this:

Eventually I'll be adding Egg Moves as well, but I haven't done anything on that yet, and I may wait and do that in v3.0 when you aren't forced to breed with a Ditto so it is more accurate. We'll see!

Basically, between Rental Pokemon, disabling item use in battle in those areas, and some other stuff like that, we'd end up having to shift data around in a way that would mess up saves. But there is no reason they can't be in v3.0, and they'll actually end up better since we can also add in like ne...

Gen 1 sounds terrible
Luna
It has a lot of bugs. But it was literally their first try, so without it we wouldn't have any of the other gens. And at least they fixed them later.

And in fact, some Gen 1 bugs turned into intentional behaviour. For example, originally, there was code to make HP draining moves fail when used agains...
