Finding the selection table

The routine for special 0x173 has two limit bytes while loading the entry fron the tables. the first limit if located at 0x12D5F2 and the second is located at 0x12D656.

The selection table is made up of trainer indexes 2 bytes each and 4 special entrys throughout the table of also 2 bytes each. the special entrys structure seems to be <XX - Sprite number><FE - unknown byte>. The special entrys use another table which isnt found yet...

table of trianer indexes: 0x45F5EA structure for normal entry <XXXX - Trainer number> structure for special entry <XX - trainer number><FE - unknown byte>

the entrys in the above table are for getting the traner names. the sprites used for normal entries are in a different table.

table of pointers to name data of special entries. there are 4 entries: 0x45F60C contains 4 pointers that point to the names.

While selecting options in the list a certain text effect is applyed to the selected options. this text effect is made up of 3 things. 1. background colour of the selection - 0x45F5E6 2. text shadow colour - 0x45F5E7 3. text colour - 0x45F5E8

these byte work from a range od 00 to FF. 00 is no colour at all and FF is compeltey black/dark blue colour. these values can be changed to alter the apperance of the selected text to make it a colour of your choice. This isnt really relevant but can be cool.

List of sprites

Each selection has a sprite that goes with it. the normal selection sprite table is trainer image indexes 1 byte each. the table is located at 0x45F61C. There are 16 entries which corrispond to the following peoples sprite: 1: Oak 2: Daisy 3: Brock 4: Misty 5: LT. Surge 6: Erika 7: Koga 8: Sabrina 9: Blaine 10: Loreli 11: Bruno 12: Agatha 13: Lance 14: Bill 15: Fuji 16: Giovanni

Trying to change any of the entries above to different trainer sprites will work except for entries 1, 2, 14 and 15 which are special entries...

Enabling the pictures sprites and OWs using a script

to enable the OWs and/or the sprites, use the following specials adding the needed infiormation before hand:

173 activates the info at the slot 0x8005, for person 0x8004 174 sets the pesron picture status. 0x8004 = pesron number, 0x8005 = set value. 0x1 = only shadow. 0x2 = correct picture

Trainer Tower Research

Research conducted by Linkandzelda.

Special 0x194 seems to be related quite a bit. 0x8004 is one of the triggers. If its set to 0x11, then run it will put a result into 0x800D. If that is not equal to 1 then you are allowed to enter the highest level which is 8 floors. If its equal to anything else then... the special 0x194 will buffer a number (the highest possible floor) into <buffer1>.

When selecting a single battle the script will copy the result of 0x800D into 0x8005, Will then set 0x4082 to 0x1 and run the healing script 0x0.

Then it will set 0x8004 to 0x6 and run the special 0x194. Seems like this special has a range of functions and is the main use for the trainer tower. Hopefully i will be able to document the functions whcih this special can do.

0815D9E8 also seems to have something to do with it.

List of functions for use with special 0x194 + 0x8004

0x8004 is the command picker for the routine table at 0847A230

0x0 0815DD45
0x1 0815DF55 Seems to be related to text loading. Checks 0x8005
0x2 0815E161 Runs after the text is buffered, guessing it runs the battle.
0x3 0815E1C1 Runs before the text is buffered. Could buffer trainer info
0x4 0815E1F1
0x5 0815E219
0x6 0815E28D Appears to start the timer.
0x7 0815E395

0xA 0815E56D
0xB 0815E5C5
0xC 0815E5F1
0xD 0815E659
0xE 0815E721
0xF 0815E88D
0x10 0815E8B5
0x11 0815E8CD Checks to see if you can enter the highest floor. If 0x0 you can, if 0x1 buffers to buffer1 the highest possible floor.
0x12 0815E909
0x13 0815E949
0x14 0815E9C9 Checks to see if you have finished. 0x1 for yes, 0x0 for no.

After looking into it further the special firstly checks for the value in 0x8004, then it will load up a table, adding the value in 8004 x 4 to the pointer. The pointer 0847A230 contains a table of 15 pointers. And i think those are the routines for what this special does based on the value in that variable. The conenction between 02 and 03 is that theres a possibility that 03 is the trainer picker, and 01 is the text picker and 02 is the battle executer. Research into the buffering of trainer text, the table of pokemon and trainer names, and the level being the highest of the players party. Looking into command 0x3 further there seems to be a table at 084A32CC and a ahort routine before that at 084A329C.
